We’ve taken some of Adelaide’s most loved trails and linked them together to create an event like no other. In typical Trail Running SA style, we’ve taken the obvious option then mixed it up to create a range of options to suit everyone from those new to trails to seasoned trail running veterans.
The Irrational South is another life changing adventure that awaits. A wonderful trail network to take you through mining towns, stations, through Wilpena Pound, along creeks, stopping at shearing sheds, homesteads, mountain tops, ruins and finishing in the historic town and once booming railway capital of Australia, Quorn.
An incredibly exciting and spectator friendly ultra marathon, where runners come together every hour on the hour to set off on another lap. And the laps equate to 6.71km.
The Pioneer Women’s Trail was rediscovered by members of the Hahndorf and Burnside Branches of the National Trust, and Walking SA in 1980. The annual Pioneer Women’s Trail Walk retraces the steps of the women and girls from Hahndorf to Beaumont House. Our walk of 26km ends there, but they would have continued for another 9km into central Adelaide. Since the event started in 2009 many hundreds of women, men and children have followed in their footsteps.
Mt. Remarkable National Park is located just over 3 hours drive north of Adelaide. This location really lives up to it’s name – it’s REMARKABLE! The event offers 3 distances to cater for runners of all abilities.

The Great Kanku‑Breakaways Marathon and Fun Run is held in the magnificent Kanku–Breakaways Conservation Park, 30kms north of Coober Pedy, in outback South Australia. The event is now held wholly in the conservation park, a registered Aboriginal heritage site. It winds through the spectacular coloured hills, along the dog fence and back to the lookouts.
Set on the mountainside overlooking the city, and on the edge of the picturesque Valley Lakes precinct, the course winds it’s way around some of the region's most scenic locations.
Join us to run one of South Australia’s most iconic landmarks – Granite Island at Victor Harbor. The Granite Island Run courses will challenge runners of all levels with the new causeway, tram lines, gravel trails and some short sharp climbs to negotiate, but you will be rewarded with million dollar views across our spectacular south coast.
The event will start and finish at the Norton Summit Primary School and runners will make their way towards Morialta Conservation Park, one of the most scenic parks in all of Adelaide!
The Pichi Richi Marathon takes place from Port Augusta to Quorn through the majestic Pichi Richi pass. (It's on road, but the scenery - and elevation - is more like a trail run. )
Ultra Adelaide tackles the Heysen Trail from Kuitpo, North through the hamlets of the Hills, to Mount Lofty and beyond through Brown Hill and Morialta before following the Torrens River down to the finish at the heart of Adelaide.
Mt Misery has something for everyone, including a short course on some lovely trails and a medium and long courses that include the steep and challenging summit of Mt Misery.
The Clare Valley is one of Australia's most prominent wine regions and is an absolutely beautiful part of the world to visit. With its abundance of wineries, and local attractions, this is sure to be an amazing weekend of fun and games.
In July 2024 the second Mad Max Marathon Running Festival will be held in Broken Hill, NSW after a successful inaugural event in 2023.
Mt Crawford is the 3rd On The Trails Series Event for the year. With beautiful tree lined avenues for our start/finish, memorable boardwalk and distances for all abilities, this is sure not to disappoint.
The Howling Dog trail run is all about adventure, fun and trying not to get scared of the dark! Located in the beautiful foot hills of Mt Laura on some of the best trails found on Eyre Peninsula.
The course traverses the southern end of the Lavender/Federation Trail from Monarto Safari Park to the riverside trail head at Sturt Reserve in Murray Bridge.
